Man Utd Trying To Hijack Tottenham’s Move After Opening Talks To Sign £22m Star
Manchester United are trying to hijack Tottenham’s attempts to sign Layvin Kurzawa after holding talks with the £22m Paris Saint-Germain full-back
The summer transfer deadline day has arrived and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd and Tottenham are linked with Layvin Kurzawa…
Manchester United are trying to hijack Tottenham’s attempts to sign Layvin Kurzawa after holding talks with the £22m Paris Saint-Germain full-back, according to reports via the Metro.
Kurzawa came through the youth ranks at Monaco and developed a reputation as one of the best young defenders in French football to earn a big-money move to PSG in 2015 but his time at the Parc des Princes hasn’t gone to plan in recent years as he’s found himself in and out the starting eleven.
The Ligue 1 champions are ready to sell and the 25-year-old’s situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League with the Metro claiming that Tottenham have been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential £22m deal to sign the left-back.
Mauricio Pochettino has endured a frustrating summer as Tottenham are yet to make a single signing but they are active in the market and Kurzawa has been identified as a potential replacement for Danny Rose amid speculation he’ll be on the move this summer.
However, it looks like Spurs will face stiff competition as the Metro are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims Manchester United have now entered the race to sign Kurzawa during the closing hours of the window.
The French publication says United representatives have already met with Kurzawa’s camp to discuss a move to Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho looks to pull off a late swoop for the full-back.
Mourinho has vented his frustration as United’s lack of activity this summer and he’s been desperate to sign a centre-back with the likes of Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Yerry Mina and Jerome Boateng all linked.
However, left-back has also been a problem area for United as Ashley Young has been forced to deputise in recent seasons and with the England international now 33, Kurzawa could be viewed as the ideal long-term replacement.
