[Video Goals] Arsenal 2-1 Cardiff City: Lacazette puts Gunners level with Chelsea
Arsenal moved level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Cardiff City at the Emirates this evening.
Arsenal struggled to get going in the first half and it was Cardiff who had the better chances to break the deadlock with the visitors wasting a couple of great opportunities to open the scoring.
We could have had at least one penalty in the opening forty-five minutes but we eventually got one midway through the second period when Sead Kolasinac was fouled in the box. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-0 in the 66th minute.
Arsenal dominated from that point on and we doubled our lead in the 83rd minute when Alexandre Lacazette lashed home a powerful low effort from a tight angle to make it 2-0.
Cardifd pulled one back in the 94rd minute when Nathaniel Mendez-Liang curled home a wonderful low effort in to the bottom corner but Arsenal held on to secure a big three points.
The victory sees Arsenal move level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea and puts the pressure on our London rivals ahead of their clash with Bournemouth tomorrow night.
