Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham are set to sign Tanguy Ndombele….
Tanguy Ndombele is in London for his medical ahead of a club record move from Lyon as Tottenham look to wrap-up a stunning £76.5m double swoop also involving Jack Clarke, according to the Daily Mail.
Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t signed a player since the arrival of Lucas Moura in January 2018 but the Tottenham boss is keen to strengthen his squad this summer in order to build on their Champions League final appearance last season.
A new midfielder is a priority as Spurs need to replace Mousa Dembele – who moved to China in January – and Ndombele has been touted as Pochettino’s prime target after enjoying a superb debut season at Lyon following his move from Amiens last summer.
The Daily Mail says Tottenham have agreed a deal with Lyon worth £56.5m up front with a further £8.5m in additional add-ons meaning the total deal is worth £65m – which will smash their club transfer record.
The newspaper says Ndombele has now arrived in north London to finalise his move and undergo a medical today after the 22-year-old midfielder agreed personal terms over a five-year contract.
Assuming there are no last minute complications, Ndombele is set to seal his move to the new White Hart Lane and his signing will be a huge statement of intent from Tottenham as the French international has become one of the hottest properties in Europe.
The spending isn’t going to stop there as the Daily Mail says Tottenham are also on the verge of signing exciting winger Jack Clarke from Leeds United in an £11.5m deal.
The 18-year-old made 25 appearances for Leeds last season after coming through their youth ranks and is highly rated so he should prove to be an excellent long-term addition to the Tottenham squad.
