Brighton vs Tottenham: Match preview, team news, how to watch, betting & prediction
Tottenham will look to put their humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich behind them when they take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Tottenham will look to put their humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich behind them when they take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Spurs slumped to a heavy 7-2 defeat at home to the German giants in the Champions League on Tuesday night with former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry bagging four goals during the rout in north London.
It came after a run of poor results that saw Tottenham knocked out of the Carabao Cup to Lowly Colchester, draw with Olympiacos after leading 2-0 and lose to Leicester City so the pressure is mounting on Mauricio Pochettino’s shoulders.
However, despite their recent troubles, Tottenham could still move into the top four of the Premier League table with a win over Brighton on the south coast tomorrow so Pochettino will be desperate to take home a positive result.
Team news
Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns to worry about following the Bayern game but Giovani Lo Celso remains out with a hip injury while Ryan Sessegnon is still overcoming a hamstring injury that he’s been carrying since joining the club in the summer.
Serge Aurier will serve a one match ban after being sent off against Southampton last weekend so Kyle Walker-Peters could return at right-back. Juan Foyth could also return to the squad after returning to full fitness.
Brighton welcome Solly March back into the squad after recovering from a thigh injury while Davy Propper will be given a late fitness test after missing the defeat to Chelsea with a hamstring strain.
How to watch
The game will be shown live on BT Sport 1 on Saturday October 5th, kicking off at 12.30pm. Subscribers can watch the game on TV, on desktop or laptop using the online player or via the BT Sport app. For those fans who can’t access BT Sport, you can keep up-to-date with the football live scores online or on you mobile using one of the many sites available such as SoccerStats247.
Betting odds
Tottenham are the 19/20 favourites to win the game tomorrow while Brighton can be backed at 3/1 with the draw at 27/10. Over 2.5 match goals seems like a solid bet at odds of 4/5 while both teams to score at 8/13 is also tempting.
Prediction
Brighton 1-2 Tottenham: Spurs have a good record against Brighton having not lost any of their last four league meetings but that run could be under threat given Tottenham’s dire away form in 2019. The north Londoners are winless in their last nine league games on the road so usually we’d be predicting a home win. However, Brighton are equally as bad at home as they’ve not won any of their last eight matches at the Amex so this is a great opportunity for Tottenham to get back on track. I’m expecting a tight game but think Spurs will edge it.
