Chelsea Back In The Running For £35m Ace
Brazilian wonder kid Neymar has rejected rumours that he is set to join Real Madrid in a £35m deal, giving Chelsea fresh hope of securing his signature this summer.
Yesterday Neymar’s representative, Ernesto Bronzetti, had been quoted as saying that discussions had taken place and a deal was close to completion for the samba star:
“I was called by an Italian television station [Sport Mediaset] and they asked me,” Bronzetti told SportYou.
“I told them the only thing I knew was what I had seen on a website, that it was almost done.”
However the player himself has now rejected these reports, as it seems his agent was misinterpreted by the media. Neymar arrived in Montevideo where he is preparing to play the first leg of the Copa Libertadores Final, and put the record straight:
“There is nothing [with Real Madrid]. Today, nothing will take me out of Santos,” he said.
Santos president Ribeiro also denied a deal was done:
“If an offer came, I would send it back. It is funny that such news always comes the day before decisive matches. They must be joking. When it is not Ganso, it is Neymar,” the president stated.
“We are talking to several sponsors. We will make as many offers as necessary for Neymar to stay.”
