Why I Believe Arsenal Should Go For Samba

By on August 3, 2011

Mid May, 2011. Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic, West Ham, Birmingham, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Blackpool are all fighting for their Premier League status. Each team has their men that carry them along, but none more so than Blackburn’s Chris Samba. The dominant Congolese single handily insured that Blackburn would ply their trade in the Premier League for another season.

Their captain carried the team around ALL season, not just for the final third. He shone in a rather dull, unexciting and, at times, abysmal team. One game that rapped the guy in to one for me was his amazing game against Manchester City. In the space of 20 seconds, he put his body on the line to block 3 attempts at the Rovers goal.

This brings me on to Arsenal. Some say we are lacking a leader, someone that will do anything for the team, a Tony Adams. Despite people saying we need an English CB, I beg to differ. You do not need to be English to love Arsenal, to put everything on the line for them. Take the Malaysian fans on our recent tour; nobody was expecting them to be so committed. Reports are also linking us to Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill, who, in my opinion, are not quite good enough for the starting line up. And for around £5 million less, we can get big Samba.

He is the perfect CB for us. He is everything we need. A leader, he knows how to win ugly and is dominant in the air, all three things that we lacked last season.

Therefore, I believe that Arsene Wenger should leave Jagielka and Cahill and go for the more financially and all around more viable option. Taking his recent interview in to consideration Samba wants to be an Arsenal player anyway. Its up to you Arsenal.

Just leave our players alone. Stop trying to unsettle our players and go away. You could not afford Samba.

If you are referring to his recent interview, he denies wanting to join Arsenal.

As Ron Rover has mentioned, you couldn’t afford him, you know it, Ron knows it, I know it and most of all Arsene Wenger knows it, which is why no bids have been lodged.

So he is after Jags and Cahill, but also hasn’t put any bids in for them either, clearly your manager is using these names to placate the ever growing frustrated fans.

Many people has said it, both Arsenal fans and non Arsenal fans alike that Samba is the man to solve Arsenal’s defence problem. I have already said this long ago and still surprise that Wenger is still not making move for this guy. Please Wenger listen to the voice of the people and make us (Arsenal fans) happy by solving that defence problem. Christopher Samba is the man please.

You obviously know little of Blackburn Rovers as your comments are illinformed at best and downright offensive at worst. Blackburn have a very solid defence except for the lack of pace of Salgado(which he makes up for in guile) and the errors of Samba for which he puts his body on the line for. Samba has amazing qualities which are not suited to the Arsenal style, if you get him, prepare to be disappointed.

I think you should buy Cahill, because in order to continue your rich vein of winning nothing, you need to purchase another over rated shit centre half, that way you can continue to be the EPL also rans. Unlike Arsenal Rovers want to keep their best players, why would chris go to Arsenal when Fabrigas and Nasri are leaving. As soon as the season ticket sales are finalised my money is on them both leaving. So on that score big chris would be better suited staying where he is. Theres nothing for Basil Wenger Faulty here

as i have been said,Samba is a perfect central defender for Arsenal.Arsenal can score goals even by existing strikers but the teams difficulties were conceding a goals and poor defense…. English FB needs physical strength, stopping long and on air ball.we lack those chiris samba fills this gab for us.we can stop the counter attacks and will be good in defensive also so with our beautiful football we can win the trophy. Therefore, please wenger go for samba. look what arsenal was during the presence of Campbell…

Less we forget,he scores goals,he is a striker turned good defender,he has the shape that can bully strikers and has leadership qualities. Pls Wenger,we understand you have Masters in Economics but save Arsenal FC from another shame this season, get Samba

To say that Arsenal doesn’t have the money for Samba is laughable. Pray tell, how have you made this ill-informed, off the cuff assessment? Let me guess, this is what you believe is true.

I was present at Arsenals Annual General meeting this year. My family are independent shareholders and have been for many years. We are afforded the chance to look into the clubs finances. So from someone in the know to someone clearly not, disposable transfer budget is not the issue. Reluctance is the issue.

Let me assure you, Arsenal have enough money at their disposal to buy Chris Samba and turn him into a car park attendant. They also have enough money/equity/assets to buy anyone else you can think of if they really wanted to.

Arsenal is in an amazing place financially. Not something Man U, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid or even city can boast. I am the first to hole my hands up and say “please spend some it then” but we all know the answer to that.

You are right one point however. Arsenal won’t pay an over inflated price for a player that is not worth as much as being asked. This is why you won’t see Samba, Cahill or Jags play in an Arsenal shirt. That’s not to say that Samba is not worth this amount to Blackburn Rovers.

Ario Samba should be the right man for our defensive weakness.Infact you can compared him to his idol Ario Samba of the india movie ‘SHOLAY’.He is all what we need to halt the bullish approach of stoke and other illitrate barbaric premiership clubs who don’t know nothing about playing decent football. If we can partner both Samba and Cahill on the central, Vermahle on the left and Sagner on the right with Joe Barton and Song behind Wilshire or Ramsay then our promblem is solved and let Fabregas and Nasri go away.
