Andre Villas-Boas has told Chelsea veteran Frank Lampard to continue and fight for his place in the side.
Lampard admitted early this week he needs a run of games to find his form, with Villas-Boas seemingly rotating the 33-year old. Now the Chelsea boss has told Lampard he is in the same position as all members of his squad and must fight for his place:
“The situation with every player in the world is that everybody wants to play and everybody wants to feel part of a team.
“But in squads of 25, 26 players, there are always the people who want to go back into the team.
“It’s the most normal thing and all of them expect to play.
“This is part of the day-to-day life on management.
“Frank, like other players, is fighting for his place and he’s been involved in almost every game.”
Lampard has been anything but a regular for Chelsea this season, and the England internationals future has come scrutiny after featuring on the bench several times this season.
