Tottenham are preparing a £15m summer move for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to the Daily Mail, with Chelsea and QPR also thought to be interest.
Tottenham are preparing a summer move for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims Spurs could face competition from Chelsea and QPR for the stopper, who Newcastle value at £15m, and that the North Londoners are willing to wait until the summer to make their move for the 23-year-old.
Krul has been in superb form this year for the Geordies, managing to keep eight clean sheets so far this term. This has helped guide Newcastle to sixth place in the league and within touching distance of fourth placed Chelsea.
Harry Redknapp now has a reliable number 1 between the sticks in Brad Freidel, but at 40-years-of-age this could be the keepers last season in top flight football, leaving Spurs in need of a long-term replacement.
Krul and Swansea’s Michel Vorm have been the two stand-out goalkeepers this season and if Redknapp and Levy could manage to secure either one it would be a great move for Tottenham. Freidel has also been excellent, but his career is coming to an end and Spurs must plan now to find his replacement and this fella would be a great addition at White Hart Lane.
