Barthel Confirms Man Utd’s Interest In Polish Striker
Manchester United are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, as confirmed by the players agent Maik Barthel yesterday.
Manchester United are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, according to the players agent.
Lewandowski has been in superb form this year, scoring 22 goals in helping Dortmund win the Bundesliga title this season. However, the 23-year-old is stalling on a new contract and Sky Sports News report today that Sir Alex Ferguson and Mike Phelan were both in Germany on Saturday to watch Dortmund beat Bayern Munich in the cup final.
Sky believe Fergie was there to not only watch long-term target Shinji Kagawa in action, but also his team mates Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski, and the Polish strikers agent has confirmed that not only has his client rejected Dortmund’s latest contract offer but also that Manchester United are interested in signing the highly rated hitman.
Quoted by Sky Sports News, Maik Barthel said:
“I can confirm that the (new contract) offer of Borussia Dortmund is insufficient,” Maik Barthel said.
“I am also able to confirm an interest of Manchester United in the services of Robert Lewandowski.”
So it seems like fergie would be in for a busy summer after seeing his side narrowly miss out on winning their 20th Premier League title.
