Madrid Confident Of Landing £30m Modric Ahead Of United
Real Madrid are confident of beating Manchester United to the signing of Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric, and have prepared a £30m offer for the Croatian.

Real Madrid are confident of beating Manchester United to the signing of Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims the Spanish giants have prepared an opening offer of £30m for the Croatian schemer, who is expected to leave White hart Lane this summer.
Boss Jose Mourinho has told club officials to push forward with the deal in an attempt to beat off competition from Manchester United, who are also keen on landing the 26-year-old playmaker.
Modric tried to push through a move to Chelsea last summer by handing in a transfer request, but was forced to stay by chairman Daniel Levy. Having missed out on champions league football next season, managerless Spurs are going to find it difficult to hang on to the midfielder for a second summer.
Tottenham would prefer to sell abroad rather than strengthen a Premier League rival, making Real favourites to sign him, although United won’t give up without a fight with Sir Alex Ferguson determined not to miss out on another top target having already lost Eden Hazard to Chelsea.
The sale of Modric would provide Tottenham’s new manager with funds to shape the squad this summer, with former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas and France coach Laurent Blanc the front-runners for the job.
FT Verdict
Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator but if Madrid offer around £35m, i can see him going to Spain. Not many players could turn down the advances of Real Madrid and no doubt Levy would rather sell abroad.

However, if Madrid fail to stump up the required cash, i wouldn’t discount a move to United. Fergie is desperate to add some creativity to him midfield, despite the signing of Kagawa, and he’s been a long-term admirer of Modric’s. But if i was a betting man, I’d say Luka will eventually end up at the Bernabeu.
