Tottenham outcast Giovani Dos Santos is planning to hold talks with Andre Villas-Boas over his future and has not ruled out staying at White Hart Lane.
Speaking after Mexico’s 2-0 win over Gabon at the Olympics on Sunday, where the attacking midfielder scored both goals, Dos Santos admitted he’s keen to hold talks with new Spurs boss AVB after being frozen out under Harry Redknapp.
It’s been fully expected that the Mexican would leave White Hart Lane this summer, but the player is keen to remain in England and has hinted he could revive his Spurs career, especially if Luka Modric completes his proposed move to Real Madrid.
Dos Santos was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying:
‘I’ve not spoken to the new trainer, I’ll wait until the Olympics is over and then we will talk.
‘I have to see what he thinks and then we will decide that’s best.
‘It could be good for me. There could be opportunities now that the club has a new trainer. I have one year on my contract and I can’t do anything until that has run out.
‘Until now it’s been frustrating for me. It was a big disappointment that Harry Redknapp didn’t play me and I don’t know the reasons why as I almost never spoke to him.
‘But I would like to stay in England and the most important thing is that I play. It could be that there is a space if Modric leaves but I don’t know exactly.’
The 23-year-old has made just 17 appearances in a Tottenham shirt since making the move to London from Barcelona in 2008, and has spent loan spells at Ipswich, Galatasaray and Racing Santander in recent seasons.
