Shakhtar Donetsk have turned down an £11.8million offer from Tottenham for attacker Willian, according to Sky Sports.
Spurs have been strongly linked with a move for the Brazilian in recent weeks as boss Andre Villas-Boas looks to add to his attacking options before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
AVB tried to sign the 24-year-old when he was Chelsea manager last summer and it seems he’s maintained his interest in the player after taking up the hot-seat at White Hart Lane.
Sky Sports Chief News Reporter Bryan Swanson claims to have spoken personally with Shakhtar’s chief executive, who confirmed they have rejected Tottenham’s £11.8m bid.
Willian is keen to move to the Premier League and has urged the Ukrainian club to allow him to move to London.
‘I have a proposal, but it is complicated because the board. Here are many players in the same position, most Brazilian. They buy and do not let go,’ said Willian.
‘That’s the problem. Everyone knows that I want out, I’m here for five years, won many titles, so I hope you respect my will.
‘I do not regret coming here, but this situation has been happening, with Chelsea trying to get me in January and now Tottenham, we start to rethink.’
