Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in CSKA Moscow’s £25m-rated midfielder Alan Dzagoev according to the Daily Mail.
New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is continuing to re-shape his squad and will use the money raised from the sale of Luka Modric to Real Madrid to try and lure Dzagoev away from Russia this week.
The 22-year-old was one of the stars of Euro 2012, scoring 3 goals in 3 games for Russia, and AVB is keen to bring him to White Hart Lane to increase his attacking options this season.
However, the Londoners are unwilling to meet CSKA’s £25m asking price and are desperately trying to negotiate a more favourable deal.
Spurs look set for a busy few days with plenty of movement, both in and out, expected before Friday’s 11pm transfer deadline.
Villas-Boas is on the verge of signing Moussa Dembele from Fulham and Hugo Lloris from Lyon, while he has also not given up hope of signing Joao Moutinho from Porto but is finding it difficult to persuade the Portuguese outfit to lower their £30m asking price.
