Manchester United welcome Everton to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
The Red Devils currently hold a nine-point advantage over second-placed Man City after the defending champions dropped points in their last two games to hand the title initiative to United.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are in excellent form of late and are currently on a 13 game unbeaten run in all competitions, including taking maximum points in four of their last five league games, so Everton will have their work cut out this weekend.
United beat a stubborn Fulham outfit 1-0 last time out thanks to a late strike from Wayne Rooney with the former Everton man looking to continue his good form in front of goal having scored five in his last four matches.
Ferguson will have revenge in mind after losing 1-0 to Everton on the opening weekend of the season while the Scot also feels last seasons 4-4 draw between the two sides cost his side the title.
The visitors arrive at Old Trafford with eyes on a top-four finish and currently trail fourth-placed Tottenham by just three points heading into the weekend’s action. The Toffees missed the chance to close the gap last weekend when they were forced to come from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Aston Villa at Goodison Park.
Team News
United are happy to welcome back winger Ashley Young after he recovered from a knee injury that’s kept him out for the last five games. Midfielder Michael Carrick is also in contention despite being forced to miss England’s win over Brazil on Wednesday with a minor hip complaint.
Defender Phil Jones could also be back after contraction a bout of shingles while Tom Cleverley is expected to start after an impressive outing for his country in midweek.
Everton defender Phil Jagielka was forced to miss the England game with a knock but is likely to be fit to face United. He’s expected to be deployed at right back once again with Tony Hibbert and Seamus Coleman both out. David Moyes ha no fresh injury worries ahead of the game.
Likely Line-ups

Predicted Score
Manchester United have an almost flawless home record this season with Spurs the only side to take away any points from Old Trafford this campaign. I can see United really taking it to the visitors this weekend to make up for letting a 2-goal lead slip against them last season which ultimately cost them the title. Man Utd 3-1 Everton

The title is now ours to lose. We had similar probability last reason only that our dear Manager messed up everything by featuring JS Park ahead of the then in form Valencia,Nani and Young at Etihad Stadium. We no longer get interested in Sir Alex Ferguson’s infamous experimentation particularly in crucial and significant matches like this one. How I wish he selected the finest 11 at his disposal other than resting players for the sake of resting them. Please, Sir Alex, make us proud as you have done in numerous occasions. I personally and wholesomely dislike the inclusion of Welbeck in games that require total committment, endurance and stamina, because his performances this season are lackadaisical and leaves a lot to be desired. Of course he is a good and sensational striker, but immaturity plays an enormous role in him.
Final score line:
Man Utd 2-1 Everton.
All the best the People’s team !
My predicted line up:

*Evra
*Ferdinand
