Man Utd Transfer News: Reds Linked With Barcelona Raid – Ranocchia On Moyes Radar
Latest Man Utd transfer rumours. Today, United are linked with Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara and eye a move for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United are linked with Thiago Alcantara and eye a move for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.
United to trigger release clause?
First up and the Express are reporting that Manchester United are considering a £15m move that would trigger Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara’s release clause.
The 22-year-old has become frustrated at the lack of playing time at the Nou Camp and the newspaper claims the playmaker will be allowed to talk with any club that tables a £15m bid due to a buy-out clause in his contract that has been reduced after he failed to play a certain number of games last season.
United are expected to add to their midfield options this summer with Paul Scholes retiring while doubts continue over the futures of Anderson and Nani, and it would be something of a coup if the Premier League champions were able to land Alcantara – who’s one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Spain.
Moyes eye Ronocchia
Next up and the Express again as they also claim that new United boss David Moyes is weighing up making a surprise move for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia this summer.
The newspaper suggests a new defender is a priority for United this summer and Ranocchia is understood to be regarded as a long-term replacement for Rio Ferdinand. The 34-year-old signed a new one-year contract extension on Thursday but the champions know they need t have a plan in place for when the England ace retires and it appears the Italian international is under serious consideration.
Ranocchia has enjoyed an excellent season in Serie A despite Inter having a poor campaign, but United may face stiff competition from Juventus with the Express claiming the Italian champions are lining up a £12.8m bid of their own. However, the 25-year-old has played down suggestions he’ll leave Milan this summer hinting he may even see out the rest of his career at the San Siro:
“Future? I never thought to go away, I came to the team mid-bass and even last year I played a little hurt and I always thought to stay and finish my career here,” he is quoted as saying by the Express
