Mourinho Risks Early Backlash With Boss Willing To Sell £25m David Luiz To PSG
Jose Mourinho could be set to clash with Chelsea’s hierarchy over David Luiz with mega-rich Paris Saint Germain ready to bid for the £25m-rated Brazilian.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, could David Luiz be leaving Chelsea this summer?
Jose Mourinho could be set to clash with Chelsea’s fans and hierarchy over the future of David Luiz with mega-rich Paris Saint Germain ready to bid for the £25m-rated Brazilian, according to the Mirror.
New boss Mourinho made a sensational return to Stamford Bridge earlier this month but it seems the honeymoon period could be over rather quickly with the 50-year-old willing to risk a backlash from the fans as well as go against the board’s wishes by selling Luiz to PSG.
The 26-year-old is a huge fan-favourite in west London and the club’s hierarchy see him as a potential future captain but the Mirror claim Mourinho isn’t convinced by the big-haired Brazilian in midfield or in central defence and is willing to cash in this summer with the aim of replacing him with Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala.
The report suggests ambitious French outfit PSG are ready to offer Luiz the chance to play alongside international team-mate Thiago Silva, with the former AC Milan ace said to be keen to forge an effective partnership at domestic level to help Brazil’s chances in next summers World Cup.
It would certainly be a risky move by Mourinho to sell one of the club’s most popular figures and I personally don’t think anything will come of this, despite what the Mirror are reporting, but if the ‘Special One’ doesn’t think Luiz fits in with his new-look team and decides it’s best to cash in then you’d have to trust him. He knows what he’s doing after all.
