Chelsea Braced For £35million Bid
Chelsea are bracing themselves for a £35million bid for defender David Luiz from European Champions Bayern Munich, but PSG are also understood to be interested.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea are bracing themselves for interest in David Luiz.
Chelsea are bracing themselves for a £35m bid for defender David Luiz from European Champions Bayern Munich, according to the Mirror.
The afro-haired Brazilian is a firm fan-favourite at Stamford Bridge and is seen as a potential captain of the club one day, but his future was cast in doubt following the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager with some reports suggesting the Portuguese coach wasn’t convinced of his defensive capabilities.
Luiz saw his reputation blossom with some superb display’s for Brazil at the Confederations Cup and the Mirror claim Champions League winners Munich have joined big-spending Paris Saint Germain in showing an interest in the 26-year-old, with the German’s believed to be ready to test Chelsea’s resolve with a mammoth £35m bid.
New Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is understood to be on the look-out for someone to play alongside Dante at the back in his new-look side and it seems he’s set his sights on his Brazilian team mate, with the newspaper claiming that sporting director Matthias Sammer held talks with Luiz’s representatives while the defender was away on international duty last week.
A major stumbling block could be Mourinho’s unwillingness to do business with Guardiola, given the tense relationship the pair endured during their time in Spain, but it appears Chelsea are going to have a battle on their hands to hang on to Luiz with both Bayern and PSG keen on luring him away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
