League Cup
Tottenham vs Newcastle Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups & Predicted Score
Tottenham take on Newcastle in the Capital One Cup quarter final tonight. Here’s a preview with team news, line-up, predicted score and betting tips.
Tottenham Hotspur take on Newcastle United at White Hart Lane in the Capital One Cup quarter-final this evening.
Spurs head into the game in decent form following on from Sunday’s late 2-1 victory over Swansea City that saw Christian Eriksen score a ninetieth minute winner to move the North Londoners up to seventh in the Premier League table.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men have reached the last eight of the League Cup thanks to wins over Nottingham Forest and Brighton but they should face a much stiffer test against Newcastle tonight.
Alan Pardew’s side have recovered from a dreadful start to the season and sit just a single point behind Tottenham in the league table, while they will take confidence from the fact they left White Hart Lane with all three points back in October.
The Magpies had already seen off Gillingham and Crystal Palace before beating Manchester City in the previous round, so will hold no fear going into the game this evening.
Team news
Spurs have no fresh injury worries to contend with and come into the match with virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Emmanuel Adebayor is back in full training after being given permission to go back to Togo on compassionate leave, but he’s unlikely to feature.
Pochettino is expected to rest some of his key men with the likes of Michel Vorm, Younes Kaboul, Moussa Dembele and Andros Townsend expected to start.
Newcastle on the other hand have a number of injury worries to deal with with Tim Krul, Rob Elliot, Mehdi Abeid, Rolando Aarons, Ryan Taylor, Siem de Jong and Gabriel Obertan all injured.
The good news is that Steven Taylor and Moussa Sissoko are available again after serving their bans.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham 2-1 Newcastle: Tottenham’s home form has been poor but they have to turn things around soon, and Sunday’s late win over Swansea could give them a much-needed confidence boost, so I think the North Londoners will edge this.
