Man Utd Prepare Bid For €54m Brazilian, Player Confirms Talks With English Club
Man United are preparing a fresh bid for €54m-rated Brazilian centre-back Marquinhos and the player has confirmed he’s already held talks with English clubs
The January transfer window is now closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Manchester United are linked with Marquinhos….
Manchester United are preparing a fresh bid for €54m-rated centre-back Marquinhos and the player has confirmed he’s already held talks with English clubs about a potential move to the Premier League, according to reports.
United boss Louis van Gaal was understood to be in the market for another centre-back during the January transfer window but was unable to strengthen his options as all his top targets were unavailable mid-season.
Marquinhos was one of the names strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford and it was reported that the Red Devils failed with two deadline day bids earlier this month, as Paris Saint-Germain refused to sell the 20-year-old.
However, it seems van Gaal hasn’t given up hope of luring the defender to England as the Metro claim that United will renew their interest in the Brazilian international at the end of the season – although it’s expected that they’ll need to pay around €54m (£40m) to persuade the Ligue 1 champions to cash in.
United have now been handed a boost in their pursuit as Marquinhos has been talking up the Premier League and confirmed he’s already held talks with English clubs. He told reporters:
‘The Premier League is viewed all around the world,’
‘There is even some children in Brazil who grow up supporting English teams. There have been some discussions with English clubs, but right now I’m with PSG.’ Marquinhos is quoted as saying by the Metro
You’d assume United were one of the clubs he’s held discussions with given the amount of speculation in the newspapers, but it remains to be seen whether PSG are going to be willing to sell the highly-rated centre-back this summer.
The South American moved to the Parc des Prince in the summer of 2013 but after a promising debut season, he’s fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of David Luiz, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was keen on leaving to get more first team action.

But he’s still contracted to PSG and they are under no financial pressure to sell, so United have still got a lot of work to do if they want to bring the player to Old Trafford this summer.
