Guus Hiddink is sweating on the fitness of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard after the pair were forced off during Chelsea’s Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last night.

Costa missed last weeks 1-1 draw with Stoke due to a tendon injury but he was passed fit to start for Wednesday night’s Champions League last-16 second leg tie with the French champions.

The Brazilian-born hitman looked to be in decent shape having scored a fine equaliser midway through the first half to level things up following Adrien Rabiot’s early strike for the visitors.

Costa was playing a key role for Chelsea as they looked to find another goal to send the match into extra time, however, those hopes were dashed when the 27-year-old limped off in the 60th minute and was replaced by youngster Bertrand Traore after aggravating his tendon problem.

Hazard on the other hand endured a night to forget at Stamford Bridge after struggling to have any positive impact on the game and asked to be substituted in the 77th minute after suffering a hip injury.

Speaking to Chelseafc.com, Hiddink has offered his thoughts on the pair with the interim boss hoping neither injury turns out to be serious as Chelsea face Everton in the quarter finals of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

‘We will see if there is big damage tomorrow. Hazard has a little problem with his latest hip injury.’

‘Diego was desperate to play today although he was not 100 per cent fit. He was desperate. I don’t know if that has become worse, we will see. I hope it isn’t worse than before the Stoke game, because in two days we will have to play another game.’

Chelsea looked toothless without Costa on the pitch and ended up slumping to a 2-1 defeat thanks to a close range finish from Zlatan Ibrahimovic which saw the Blues crash out of the Champions League 4-2 on aggregate.

Costa and Hazard will now be assessed today to determine the full extent of their injuries but Hiddink will be praying they are passed fit to play this weekend as the FA Cup is now their only chance of rescuing something from what’s been a hugely disappointing season.
