10-man Manchester United won the 2015/16 FA Cup thanks to 2-1 comeback victory over Crystal Palace at Wembley at his evening.
United dominated proceedings from the outset as Palace sat back but the Red Devils struggled to create clear-cut goal scoring opportunities and the two sides went in all square at the break.
Louis van Gaal’s men continued to press in the second half but Palace stunned Wembley after breaking the deadlock with a superb strike from Jason Puncheon with the midfielder coming off the bench to fire the Eagles ahead with a powerful volley in the 78th minute.
However, United equaliser almost immediately as Juan Mata also volleyed home from close range at the far in the 81st minute post following an excellent run from skipper Wayne Rooney.
The game went in to extra-time and United were reduced to 10-men on the stroke of half-time as Chris Smalling was dismissed for a second yellow card following a foul near the half-way line.
However, despite being a man down, United won it thanks to a stunner from substitute Jesse Lingard as the midfielder lashed home a volley in the 20th minute of extra-time to see the Red Devils lift the FA Cup for the first time since 2004.
