Feyenoord vs Man Utd Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Man Utd take on Feyenoord in the Europa League tonight. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score for the game
Manchester United will look to kick start their Europa League campaign on a positive note when they take on Feyenoord at the De Kuip stadium Thursday evening [kick off 6pm BST].
The Red Devils had enjoyed a flawless start to the new season but their 100% record came to an abrupt end on Saturday when Manchester City left Old Trafford with all three points thanks to a 2-1 victory.
Jose Mourinho will be demanding a response from his players but he’s made his priorities for this season clear after leaving a number of first team regular at home and admitting that the Europa League is going to have an adverse effect on their Premier League title hopes.
Obviously a club of United’s stature should be playing Champions League football but as long as they are still in the Europa League, I’m sure Mourinho will still want to win it and will be desperate to get off to a winning start this evening.
However, that’s not going to be easy as Feyenoord come in to the game in excellent form having won all five of their league matches so far this season and are averaging three goals a game so a weakened United side will be in for a tough game.
Team News
Wayne Rooney has been left back in Manchester to rest ahead of Sunday’s league trip to Watford while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also expected to be given a breather with Marcus Rashford coming in to lead the line up front.
Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia haven’t made the trip to Rotterdam so Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian will be given a chance to impress while Chris Smalling is also expected to be handed his first start of the season.
Jesse Lingard is another player who has been left behind while Henrikh Mkhitaryan is understood to have been ruled out for 10 days with a thigh injury.
Phil Jones has picked up a knee ligament injury and is set for a month on the sidelines but the likes of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Morgan Schniederlin are pushing for game-time.
Likely Line-Ups
PSV: Jones; Karsdorp, Kongolo, Botteghin, Woudenberg; Vilhena, Kuyt, Ahmedi; Toornstra, Jorgensen, Berghius
Predicted Score
Feyenoord 1-2 Man Utd: The hosts will be confident as they are in good form but it’s important to remember how poor the Dutch league is so we shouldn’t read too much in to their domestic form. Despite the extensive changes expected by Mourinho, United are still able to put out a very competitive team and I think the visitors will just edge this one.
