Celta Vigo vs Man Utd: Preview, Team News, Line-Up, Betting Tips & Prediction
Man Utd take on Celta Vigo in the first leg of their Europa League clash tonight. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups, betting tips and predicted score.
Manchester United will be looking to bring home a positive result when they take on Celta Vigo in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final in Spain tonight.
United were held to a 1-1 draw by Swansea last weekend which leaves them one point behind fourth-placed Man City with four games remaining so they still have a realistic chance of sneaking in to the Champions League via the Premier League.
However, Jose Mourinho has made it perfectly clear that Europe is now his priority and he’s even hinted he may rest some of his key men for Sunday’s league game at Arsenal.
It appears the United boss would rather throw everything at winning a trophy and securing a place in the Champions League rather than concentrate on trying to finish in the top four.
The Red Devils will be confident of beating Celta Vigo over two legs to reach the Europa League final for the first time but the Spaniard’s can be a dangerous side on their day so Mourinho won’t be taking anything for granted.
Betting Tips
United are the 17/10 favourites to win this game with the bookmakers but you can use sites like whatbookies.co.uk to ensure you get the best odds and welcome bonuses to make your money go further. If you’re looking for more value, then I also like the look of both team to score at even money while a 2-1 United win is also on offer at odds of around 9/1.
Team News
United have been handed a major injury boost with the news that Paul Pogba is fit again after missing the last two games with a muscle problem so he should be restored in midfield.
Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are also available again after returning to full training following six weeks on the sidelines while Eric Bailly has been declared fit despite limping off against Swansea.
Luke Shaw has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a foot injury so Matteo Darmian could come in at left-back while Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are all out.
Marouane Fellaini is expected to play as he’s currently serving a domestic suspension.
As for Celta, they’ll continue to be without former United striker Giuseppe Rossi with a long-term knee injury while Ruben Blanco and Carles Planas are doubts.
Likely Line-Up
Predicted Score
Celta Vigo 1-2 Man Utd: United have been grinding out results despite their injury woes and the return of Pogba will be a big boost as they lacked ideas in midfield without him last weekend. Celta have been doing well in Europe this season but United have far superior quality in their squad compared to their Spanish counterparts. I expect a fairly tight game but can see United coming away with a valuable win.
