Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all considering last gasp moves for Leicester City’s want-away attacker Riyad Mahrez during the closing stages of the window, according to RMC Sport.
Mahrez has been strongly linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium all summer after handing in a formal transfer request at the end of last season.
The Algerian international has attracted interest from all over Europe but as yet no club has been able to strike a deal having failed to meet Leicester’s asking price.
News broke earlier today that Mahrez had been given permission to leave the Algerian national team camp to secure a move away from Leicester but as yet nobody knows where he is or who he might be joining.
According to French outlet RMC Sport, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are among the clubs considering a late move to sign the 26-year-old during the closing stages of the transfer window.
Arsene Wenger could turn his attention to Mahrez after failing to land Thomas Lemar from Monaco with Man City’s hopes of signing Alexis Sanchez hinging on the Gunners finding a replacement.
However, both Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino are being tipped make some late moves in the market and they are also seemingly eyeing Mahrez so we could see a transfer battle between the three London giants.
The Independent carried a report yesterday suggesting that Mahrez could be valued at £50m but the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs would hope to drive that price down so late in the window.
RMC Sport say Barcelona are also still monitoring Mahrez’s situation but as yet the Catalan giants have yet to formalise their interest as they continue to hold out for Philippe Coutinho.
