Chelsea Ready To Hijack Arsenal & Liverpool’s Attempts To Sign £60m Attacker
Chelsea have joined Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign Lyon’s £60m-rated attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir this summer
The summer transfer window is fast approaching and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Nabil Fekir…
Chelsea have joined Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign Lyon’s £60m-rated attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir this summer, according to a report by the Mirror.
Fekir has developed in to one of the most exciting attackers in Europe since joining Lyon from Saint-Priest in 2013 and he’s expected to be going to the World Cup with France this summer.
The 24-year-old has provided 22 goals and 7 assists in his 38 appearances in all competitions so far this season to help Lyon push for second place in the Ligue 1 table and qualification to the Champions League.
His impressive form has also attracted interest from the Premier League with CalcioMercato reporting last week that Arsenal are hoping to finally land Fekir this summer having tracked him for some time.
It then looked like Liverpool had moved in to pole position after RMC Sport reported over the weekend that the Reds had agreed a deal worth in the region of £60m to sign Fekir this summer.
Jurgen Klopp is in the market for another attacking midfielder after failing to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho in January and it looks like Fekir has emerged as a prime target.
However, it seems Chelsea are now hoping to hijack their attempts to sign the Frenchman as the Mirror are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims the Blues are also serious contenders for his signature.
Antonio Conte is expected to strengthen his squad this summer after a disappointing campaign and Chelsea could be eyeing Fekir as a potential replacement for Willian amid speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge.
Fekir has responded to the rumours linking him with a move to England by saying he’s only focussed on finishing the season with Lyon and then he’ll decide on his future. He’s quoted as saying by talkSPORT:
“There is nothing new for now. I’m still at Lyon and there are two games left. We will prepare in the best possible way.
“At the end of the season we’ll see.”

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Fekir would be a superb signing for Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea if any of those clubs could secure his signature this summer.
