Manchester United are ready to trump Arsenal and Liverpool by using Anthony Martial as bait to land £40m-rated Borussia Dortmund attacker Christian Pulisic, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Pulisic is one of the most sought-after young players in European football after impressing since breaking in to the Dortmund first team following his move from PA Classics in 2015.

The 19-year-old is now an established part of Dortmund’s starting eleven having made 40 appearances so far this season and he’s also got 20 caps to his name for the United States national team.

The teenagers potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as TeamTalk claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are among the clubs to have registered their interest in recent months.

Jurgen Klopp knows Pulisic well from their time together at Dortmund and the Liverpool boss is in the market for another attacker after failing to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho following his January move to Barcelona.

Arsenal are gearing-up for a busy summer of change in north London and the Gunners have also been linked with a move for Pulisic as they look to rebuild following Arsene Wenger’s impending departure.

However, it looks like United are ready to steal a march on their rivals as TeamTalk are citing a report from the Mirror that claims Jose Mourinho is set to offer Martial as bait to land Pulisic this summer.

Martial is being tipped to leave Old Trafford after struggling to hold down a regular first team place under Mourinho and it looks like United are prepared to sacrifice the Frenchman to get their hands on Pulisic.

The report says the Dortmund attacker is valued at around £40m and I can’t see United accepting much less for Martial in today’s market so it will be interesting to see if the two clubs could strike some sort of swap deal.

Obviously there is still time for the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool to step-up their interest in Pulisic but Dortmund might be tempted to do business with United if they can get Martial in exchange as he’d be a ready-made replacement.
