The summer transfer window is fast approaching and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Yerry Mina…
Liverpool have agreed to sign Barcelona’s £88m-rated centre-back Yerry Mina on an initial season-long loan deal this summer, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.
Mina made his name with Brazilian club Palmeiras before joining Barcelona on a long-term contract for a fee of around £10.5m during the 2018 January transfer window.
However, the Colombian international has struggled to force his way in to Ernesto Valverde’s starting eleven having started just 2 games in all competitions during the second half of the season.
Barca had initially hoped Mina would adapt to life in Europe quickly but TeamTalk say the Catalans have now decided he needs to be sent out on loan this summer to gain some experience before he’ll be ready to play for the club.
The likes of Sevilla, Valencia, Villarreal and Celta Vigo have all been linked but it looks like the 23-year-old is set for a surprise move to the Premier League this summer.
TeamTalk are citing a report from AS cite journalist Ignacio Miguelez who told Spanish program El Chiringuito that a deal has been agreed for Mina to join Liverpool on a season-long loan.
Miguelez is quoted by TeamTalk as saying:
“There is a player who has already closed his future for next year and it is Yerry Mina, the Colombian will play on loan at Liverpool.”
The report says Barcelona feel a year in the Premier League will aid Mina’s development so it looks like he’s ready to learn from the likes of Virgil van Dijk at Anfield next season.
Jurgen Klopp has been tipped to sign another centre-back this summer and it would be something of a coup if the Merseysiders have secured Mina’s signature – even if it is just an initial loan deal.

It was always going to be difficult for Liverpool to sign him permanently as TeamTalk say the South American’s release clause is set at £88m [€100m] so it makes sense for the Reds to take him on loan this summer.
