Agent Confirms Interest As Arsenal & Chelsea Battle To Sign £35m Star
Jean-Michael Seri’s agent has confirmed interest from England amid reports linking Arsenal and Chelsea with a swoop for the £35m Nice midfielder
The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Jean-Michael Seri…
Jean-Michael Seri’s agent has confirmed interest from England amid reports linking Arsenal and Chelsea with a swoop for the £35m Nice midfielder, according to Sport Witness via the Metro.
Seri has developed in to one of the best midfielders in Europe since joining Nice from Pacos de Ferreira in 2015 and he’s also established himself with the Ivory Coast national team.
The 26-year-old’s excellent form has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as Sky Sports News confirmed earlier this week that Arsenal are showing a keen interest in signing Seri this summer.
The Metro claim that Chelsea are also hoping to sign the Ivorian and will battle it out with Arsenal to lure Seri to London if he opts for a move to England over the coming weeks.
Napoli are the latest club to be linked and Seri’s agent has now confirmed that while there is strong interest from England, the midfielder will also consider a move to Italy to link-up with new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The players representative went on to suggest that Seri will ultimately join the team that proves they want him the most and revealed that interested parties have until July 15th to meet his €40m (£35m) buyout clause.
The agent is quoted as telling Sport Witness, via the Metro:
‘It’s true that there are possibilities in England, so we’ll see. But [new Napoli manager] Carlo Ancelotti has a strong image and is very respected by the players he’s managed, which can be a decisive factor for Seri.’
‘Basically, he works via his emotions. He’ll go where he’s most desired, so if you really want him and you’re welcoming… Because Napoli play nice football, and over the years they’ve become a bigger club, so he’s going to listen very carefully.’
“Every year, there is a €40m clause that is valid until July 15th. Before then, they just have to offer the amount and there’s no need to have negotiations with Nice.”
Arsenal are in the market for a new midfielder as Santi Cazorla has left the club while Jack Wilshere could follow him out the door after failing to agree terms over a new contract and Unai Emery is a long-term fan of Seri.
Chelsea are also being tipped to strengthen their midfield options as Danny Drinkwater is expected to leave Stamford Bridge following a disappointing season and Seri is also on their radar.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Seri would be an excellent signing if Arsenal or Chelsea were able to win the race for his signature.
