The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Nabil Fekir is closing-in on a move to Liverpool….
Nabil Fekir is set to undergo his medical with Liverpool as his agent flies-in to England to finalise a £60m move from Lyon today, according to reports in France via the Daily Star.
Jurgen Klopp is in the market for another attacking midfielder as he looks to finally replace Philippe Coutinho following his big-money move to Barcelona during the January window.
Fekir has emerged as Liverpool’s prime target in recent months after impressing for Lyon last season with 23 goals and 8 assists in all competitions to earn a place in the French World Cup squad.
Widespread reports over the past few weeks have suggested the Reds have been in talks with Lyon over a possible deal and it looks like negotiations are at an advanced stage as Klopp tries to get the deal wrapped-up before the World Cup.
The Daily Star are citing Canal Plus journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin as saying that Fekir’s agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, is due to fly-in to England today to finalise a £60m deal with Liverpool.
The report goes on to say that as long as talks progress as planned, then the 24-year-old will undergo his medical with the Merseysiders and complete his move to Anfield before heading off to Russia.
So it looks like the next few days are going to be pivotal as Liverpool look to wrap-up their third big-money signing of the summer following the arrivals of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig and Fabinho from Monaco.
Fekir is predominantly a central attacking midfielder so if he does complete his proposed move to Liverpool then he’ll form a new-look midfield alongside Fabinho and Keita at Anfield next season.
