“It’s Not Over” – Agent Confirms Liverpool Could Still Sign £53m Star

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Nabil Fekir could yet join Liverpool….
Nabil Fekir’s agent has claimed the Lyon playmaker could yet join Liverpool despite seeing a proposed £53m move collapse earlier this month, according to the Daily Mail.
Liverpool are in the market for another attacking midfielder this summer to help fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho following his big-money move to Barcelona during the January transfer window and Fekir emerged as a key target.
The French international has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent months following an impressive campaign that saw the 24-year-old provide 23 goals and 8 assists for Lyon last season and it looked like a switch to Merseyside was on the cards.
As per the Daily Mail, Liverpool had agreed a £53m deal following lengthy negotiations with Lyon and Fekir was set to sign a five-year contract worth around £140,000-a-week after undergoing his medical in Paris shortly before he flew out to Russia earlier this month.
However, the proposed deal sensationally collapsed at the final hour after Liverpool’s medical team expressed concern over Fekir’s knee – which has been operated on twice in the last three years – and there were suggestions Lyon cancelled talks after the Reds tried to renegotiate the terms of the deal.
Lyon issued a statement on their official website confirming that the deal was off and suggested that any move was dead in the water, however, Fekir agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, has now claimed the saga isn’t over and the attacker could yet join Liverpool.
When asked why Fekir didn’t sign for Liverpool, Bernes is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying:
‘Well he didn’t sign because well… it is not over. This is not the end of the story. We now wait for what happens next.’
We’ll have to wait and see whether Liverpool reignite talks to sign Fekir but the player is currently with the French squad at the World Cup finals so any potential deal will have to wait until their tournament is over.

However, I suspect this isn’t the last we’ve heard on this story and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Liverpool eventually sign Fekir this summer, and the Frenchman would be a hugely exciting addition to their squad.
