Man Utd Ready To Hijack Everton’s £25m Deal As Mourinho Eyes 4th Summer Signing
Manchester United are ready to hijack Everton’s proposed £25m deal to sign Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney this summer, according to reports
The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are ready to move for Kieran Tierney….
Manchester United are ready to hijack Everton’s proposed £25m deal to sign Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney this summer, according to reports via TeamTalk.
Tierney has been with his boyhood club since he was a child and progressed through the ranks at Celtic to become a vital part of the first team and one of the best defenders in Scottish football. The 21-year-old was virtually ever-present last season to help Brendan Rodgers’ side win the domestic treble and despite his tender age has already captained the Glasgow giants.
The young full-back has also become an integral part of the Scottish national team having captained his country against Holland last year and his undoubted potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League.
TeamTalk cite a report from the Daily Record that claims Everton have identified Tierney as the perfect replacement for Leighton Baines and are hoping to seal a £25m deal with Celtic this summer.
Speaking on the transfer window podcast, transfer consultant Ian McGarry told journalists Duncan Castles and Jonny McFarlane that Tierney’s agent is offering the player to Premier League clubs and he’s already agreed terms over a five-year contract with an unnamed club – reportedly Everton.
McGarry is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:
“He loves Celtic and he is a Celtic supporter and ideally Tierney would want to stay at Celtic, but he sees that his career would be limited,”
“Celtic are unperturbed that his agents are actively marketing Tierney to the Premier League and that they have agreed a deal in principle for the player worth around £85,000 a week.
“It would be a five-year contract, with step-ups and by year five he would be earning around £140,000 a week.”
However, the Manchester Evening News, via TeamTalk, claims that United are also keen to sign Tierney in a £25m deal this summer after scouting the left-back throughout last season.
The report says United hope to trump Everton by offering to loan Tierney back to Celtic for another season before bringing the young defender to Old Trafford for the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

Jose Mourinho needs to sign a long-term replacement for 33-year-old Ashley Young and with Luke Shaw out of favour under the Portuguese coach, it seems United are ready to sign Tierney as a long-term solution at left-back.
If the Red Devils get a deal agreed, Tierney would become United’s fourth summer signing following the arrivals of goalkeeper Lee Grant, right-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred.
