Liverpool Could Sign £60m Star In Last Gasp Swoop After Club Agrees To Sell
Liverpool could launch a late swoop to sign Nabil Fekir as Lyon are prepared to cash-in on the attacking midfielder if £60m is put on the table
The summer transfer window is drawing to a close and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool could finally sign Nabil Fekir…
Liverpool could launch a late swoop to sign Nabil Fekir as Lyon are prepared to cash-in on the attacking midfielder if £60m is put on the table this week, according to L’Equipe via the Mirror.
Fekir has developed in to one of the most talented attackers in French football in recent years and provided 23 goals and 8 assists last season to help Lyon finish third in the Ligue 1 table and earn a place in the French World Cup squad that went on to win the World Cup this summer.
The 25-year-old attracted strong interest from Liverpool earlier in the summer after Jurgen Klopp identified Fekir as the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho having failed to to sign another attacking midfielder following the Brazilian’s move to Barcelona in January.
A £53m deal was agreed with Lyon shortly before the World Cup but the proposed transfer sensationally collapsed at the 11th hour as Liverpool tried to renegotiate the structure of the deal due to concerns over an old knee injury that were raised following his medical.
Fekir was expected to remain in France for at least another year with talk of him being offered an improved contract at Lyon, however, it looks like we could yet see his move to Anfield resurrected.
The Mirror are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims Liverpool could make a renewed attempt to sign Fekir during the closing stages of the window as Lyon are now prepared to cash-in on the French international.
Klopp has still not signed a direct replacement for Coutinho and Adam Lallana continues to struggle with niggling injuries so Liverpool could do with adding another attacking midfielder to their squad.
However, they may have to pay over the odds if they want to pull off a late swoop for Fekir as L’Equipe claim the Ligue 1 outfit will demand at least £60m to sell the player before Thursday’s deadline.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be prepared to pay more than they had agreed before the World Cup but Fekir would be an excellent addition to their squad if they managed to take him to Anfield over the coming days.
