Transfer News: Liverpool & Tottenham In Battle To Sign 23-Year-Old Star
Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has heaped praise on Adrien Rabiot as Liverpool and Tottenham battle to try and lure the midfielder away from France
The transfer window may be closed but managers are already planning for January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip. Today, Liverpool and Tottenham face a battle to sign Adrien Rabiot…
Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has heaped praise on Adrien Rabiot as Liverpool and Tottenham battle to try and lure the midfielder away from France, according to TeamTalk.
Rabiot has been with PSG his entire career after progressing though the youth system in Paris and he’s become an integral part of their starting eleven having made 44 appearances in all competitions to help land a domestic treble last season.
However, the 23-year-old’s future at the Parc des Prince is in serious doubt as he’s in the final year of his current contract and PSG have been unable to agree terms over an extension despite holding lengthy negotiations with his representatives.
The situation has alerted several top European clubs with TeamTalk claiming that Liverpool and Tottenham are keen to lure Rabiot to the Premier League on a free transfer next summer while Spanish giants Barcelona have also declared their interest.
However, PSG aren’t ready to let the French midfielder leave without a fight and boss Tuchel has heaped praise on Rabiot after describing the youngster as an ‘essential’ member of his team.
Tuchel is quoted by TeamTalk as saying:
“I love working with Adrien. He had a difficult situation when he missed the World Cup but his effort has been at a maximum,”
“He has great potential after being trained at this club. He is essential for our approach. It is very important to have footballers of this nature.”
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but Rabiot would be a superb signing for Liverpool or Tottenham if either club could snap him up on a free transfer next summer.
Jurgen Klopp has plenty of options in midfield after signing Naby Keita and Fabinho this summer but with Jordan Henderson hampered by niggling injuries and James Milner coming towards the end of his career, it appears Liverpool could be eyeing Rabiot as a replacement.

Tottenham failed to sign a single player this summer but Mauricio Pochettino is expected to dip in to the market for a new midfielder either in January or next year as Mousa Dembele is set to leave after failing to sign a new deal and Rabiot is seemingly on their radar.
