Liverpool will look to cement their position at the top of the table with a win over Watford at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Here is the team we expect Jurgen Klopp to select for the game:
Goalkeeper: There is no point deliberating for too long over who’ll start in goal as Alisson Becker will keep his place between the sticks with Adrian on the bench.
Defence: Dejan Lovren was passed fit to start against Salzburg on Tuesday night after recovering from a knock that he sustained against Bournemouth last weekend. Klopp might decide not to risk him on Saturday and give him a breather as Liverpool have lots of games coming up.
Therefore, Joe Gomez could be recalled to start alongside Virgil van Dijk as Joel Matip remains out with a knee injury while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are expected to once again start in the full-back positions.
Midfield: Liverpool will continue to be without Fabinho as the Brazilian international is facing several weeks on the sidelines with a knee ligament injury that he sustained two weeks ago.
Naby Keita has produced two excellent performances against Bournemouth and Salzburg but Klopp may want to give him a rest so Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be set for a recall tomorrow afternoon after being named on the bench on Tuesday night.
Gini Wijnaldum is expected to keep his place in midfield but Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson could be rested with James Milner coming back into the starting eleven. Adam Lallana is a doubt after missing the trip to Salzburg with a muscle problem so youngster Curtis Jones could keep his place in the squad.
Attack: Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have all been rested at times over the past few games so I don’t think there is any need for Klopp not to go with his best front three this weekend.
Divock Origi is a serious option after scoring a couple of goals against Everton earlier this month while Xherdan Xhaqiri is also pushing for a recall but I think they’ll have to make-do with places on the bench with Mane and Salah supporting Firmino against Bournemouth tomorrow.
Here is how I think Liverpool will line up:
