[Teams] Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid: Confirmed line-ups for Champions League clash

Liverpool kick-off their Champions League campaign against Atletico Madrid at Anfield this evening.

Andoni Iraola has made two changes from the side that beat Ipswich Town 2-0 in the Premier League last time out.

Alisson Becker keeps his place between the sticks once again while Ronald Araujo starts at right-back after impressing against Ipswich. Jeremie Frimpong has to settle for a place on the bench.

Jeremy Jacquet partners Virgil van Dijk in the middle of Liverpool’s defence while Milos Kerkez keeps his place at left-back ahead of Kostas Tsimikas.

Alexis MacAllister starts in midfield along with Dominic Szoboszlai so Ryan Gravenberch has to make do with a place among the Liverpool substitutes once again.

Florian Wirtz lines-up in the attacking midfield role and the German international will be hoping to build on a solid display last time out. Cody Gakpo isn’t involved tonight so youngster Rio Ngumoha is given a chance to impress in attack.

Bradley Barcola is also handed his full debut with Victor Munoz dropping to the bench. Alexander Isak leads the line up front and he’ll be looking to continue his form in front of goal after bagging a brace at Ipswich.

For the visitors, the big news is that Julian Alvarez is recalled to start in attack tonight. The Argentinean international spent the summer trying to force a move away from Atletico so it will be interesting to see how he plays this evening.
