Man Utd plot swoop to sign Fulham midfielder Josh King

Manchester United are reportedly considering making a move to sign Fulham midfielder Josh King, as per Football Insider.
After coming through the Cottagers’ youth system, the 19-year-old made his first-team debut a couple of years ago. Having featured as a rotational option over the last two seasons, he has started all six Premier League matches this term.
Although Álvaro Arbeloa’s side have endured a dire start, King has shown glimpses of his qualities, making three goal contributions across all competitions.
Now, Football Insider state that Man Utd have expressed their interest in the youngster after monitoring his development closely in recent times.
With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2029, Fulham don’t want to part ways with him. However, they might cash-in if they receive a lucrative proposal and are ready to accept more than £50m.
King is a technically gifted right-footed creative midfielder. He is quick, can carry the ball, is efficient in creating opportunities for the attackers, and works hard without possession.
Man Utd currently have Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount as attacking midfielders. Moreover, Shea Lacey can provide cover in this position if needed.

However, Mount has struggled with fitness problems since joining from Chelsea. On the other hand, Fernandes has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League over the years.
However, he is set to turn 33 next year and has entered the final few months of his current contract. Moreover, Lacey is still very young and needs time to develop.
As a result, it appears Man Utd have started exploring options to strengthen the No.10 position. King is a talented player and possesses high potential.
Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services next year.
Meanwhile, following a disappointing 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, Man Utd are set to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League tonight.
