Manchester United interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha in 2027
Manchester United’s midfield revamp earlier this summer has not yielded the necessary results as Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have failed to impress three months into the season, while Carlos Baleba’s first impressions aren’t very positive either.
With just one Premier League win to their name in nine fixtures, coupled with a precarious position in the Champions League, the Red Devils are already pondering over fresh reinforcements and could reignite interest in a player they had eyed earlier this year.
Graeme Bailey has reported that Man United scouts were present at last weekend’s Der Klassiker to watch Felix Nmecha, who was one of four Borussia Dortmund players the officials kept their tabs on ahead of a potential swoop on the Bundesliga side in 2027.
Nmecha was one of Germany’s standout performers at the World Cup earlier in the summer and has been among Dortmund’s most important players this season. He has been valued by the club at £83 million, so United will need to pay a hefty fee for him.
Excellent signing for Man United
If Manchester United are successful in their attempt of signing Felix Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund, they would have secured a brilliant midfielder’s services. The 26-year-old is the perfect profile for them to employ in a double pivot.
Defensively, he offers accurate tackles, a strong physical and aerial prowess as well as the ability to man-mark and make interceptions in the middle of the park to get the ball higher up the pitch.
Felix Nmecha uses his physique to dribble past players to break the lines when in possession, makes sleek passes into the final third as well as intelligently runs into free space in the box. He remains a goal threat from range too owing to his powerful shots.
United, however, might need to wait until next summer to sign Nmecha as a January transfer may be unlikely with Dortmund likely to want to keep the German midfielder at the club for the whole campaign as they challenge for the Bundesliga title.
Likewise, the Red Devils will need to finish 2026-27 strong and potentially finish in the Champions League spots to be able to afford as well as lure a player of Nmecha’s calibre to Old Trafford as opposed to elsewhere.
