Liverpool are reportedly considering making a move to trump Manchester United in the race to sign Fenerbahce defender Archie Brown, as per TEAMtalk.
After being impressed by the 24-year-old’s performances for Belgian side KAA Gent, the Turkish giants decided to purchase him ahead of last campaign.
He enjoyed a promising debut campaign at Chobani Stadium, making nine goal contributions and keeping seven clean sheets in 37 appearances across all competitions.
The Englishman has started the new season impressively, scoring three goals and registering two assists in 16 appearances in all tournaments. Moreover, he has helped his side keep three clean sheets.
Brown even guided his side to a 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League by scoring a goal and providing an assist on Wednesday night.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that following Milos Kerkez’s below-average performances in recent times, Liverpool are considering strengthening the left-back next year. They have identified Brown as a serious option and have been working on this deal.
However, the Reds will have to overcome fierce competition to seal the deal as Man Utd have been monitoring his development closely before making a potential swoop.

Moreover, Newcastle United, Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion have been keeping a close eye on him. Chelsea’s BlueCo recruitment network even previously expressed interest in him.
Brown is a 6ft 3in tall left-footed left-back but is also comfortable in the LWB position. He is quick, strong, good in the air, and is efficient in defensive contributions.
Man Utd currently have Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu as left-back options, but they have struggled with fitness problems this season. On the other hand, Liverpool currently have Kostas Tsimikas as Kerkez’s backup option, but he has entered the final few months of his current contract.
Brown is a talented player and is set to enter the prime stage of his career. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd or Liverpool should either club purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford club or the Merseyside club ultimately make a concrete approach to secure his services next year.
