Barca Tell Arsenal To Name Their Price For Fabregas
By Football Talk.
Barcelona have declared that Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas wants to join the Spanish champions and have told the Gunners to name their price, while they are also closing in on a deal to sign David Villa from Valencia.
Vice president for sport Rafael Yuste claims that Barcelona will be working hard to sign the Spanish pair, but an important factor is that both Fabregas and Villa are keen on a move to Catalunya.
“Negotiations are progressing well especially in the case of Villa.
“By contrast, Arsenal must make a starting price for Cesc, which they have not yet done. The situation with Cesc is different because even if you have the will of the player it is very important to talk to his club and, if you can, find an agreement.
“But what makes it easier is that both players want to come to Barca.”
General director Joan Oliver confirmed the club are looking to make key additions to the squad for next season, and said it was a compliment that players such as Fabregas and Villa wanted to play for Barcelona.
“Our team is like a puzzle, one feature is that it has no specific objectives, but it is true that we are focusing on three specific positions. For us it is a compliment that players like Villa and Fabregas have expressed their desire to play with us,” Oliver declared, as quoted by AS.
“These players are clear that they are top professionals, but there is a long process between when they produce such a statement and when they can be here.”
The Fabregas rumours are mounting by the day and the next week will crucial in determining where the midfielder will be playing next season as he wants his future sorted before the Spanish squad meets up next week.
