Midfielder Due In London On Friday To Undergo Arsenal Medical

Legia Warsaw midfielder Krystian Bielik is due to fly in to London on Friday to finalise personal terms and undergo his medial ahead of a move to Arsenal.

With the January transfer now open for business, managers are strengthening their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal close in on their first January signing….

Arsenal are closing in on their first January signing with Legia Warsaw midfielder Krystian Bielik due to fly in to London on Friday to finalise personal terms and undergo his medial, according to reports.

We’ve been strongly linked with the 17-year-old in recent weeks and are believed to have sent chief transfer negotiator Dick Law over to Poland earlier this week to finally thrash out a deal having already had bids worth €1.5m and €2m rejected by Legia.

Reports claim that we had a revised €3m (£2.3m) offer accepted yesterday but were facing stiff competition from Hamburg, with the German side also understood to have agreed a deal with the Polish outfit.

However, it looks like Arsenal have won the race as Goal are claiming that Bielik has chosen to move to the Emirates and will fly-in to London on Friday to finalise his contract and undergo a medical.

The report suggests that the talented midfielder will sign a three-year deal and will be thrown straight into Arsene Wenger’s first team squad, rather than be loaned out for the remainder of the season.

So it looks as though we’re now on the verge of sealing our first signing of the winter window. Obviously Bielik isn’t the big-name most Arsenal fans are craving but he’s a talented youngster whose got a huge future ahead of him.

The 6ft 2ins Polish youth international broke into the Legia first team earlier this season and has been impressing as a defensive midfielder, but it’s going to be a huge step-up in quality at Arsenal so I don’t see him making any real impact on the first team for the foreseeable future.

For that reason, I hope that Arsene is also planning on signing a more established holding midfield player this month – particularly after the news that Mikel Arteta has suffered another injury set-back.
