Man Utd Offer £86m Star Lucrative Contract Following Talks With Agent Over Move
Managers are now making moves to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window or next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Antoine Griezmann….
Manchester United have offered £86m-rated Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann a lucrative contract worth £220,000-a-week following talks with his agents this week, according to a report in the Telegraph.
Griezmann has become one of the best strikers in world football since joining Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014 and was named as the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016 after his 6 goals led France to the final where they eventually lost out to Portugal.
The 25-year-old has struggled slightly so far this season with ‘just’ 10 goals and 6 assists in his 22 appearances but that hasn’t stopped rumours circulating linking the attacker with a big-money move to England.
The Telegraph are citing a report originating from the Sun that claims Manchester United have offered Griezmann a bumper contract worth £220,000-a-week in order to make the move to Old Trafford in the summer.
In the report, it states that United chiefs put forward the offer during negotiations with Griezmann’s representatives this week – although there is no suggestion that Atletico gave the two parties permission to hold talks.
I’m sure the French international would be tempted by that sort of money and Griezmann has dropped hints over recent months that he’ll consider his future at the Vicente Calderon at the end of the season.
The Telegraph claim that Atletico are demanding £86m for his signature but United are one of the few clubs who could afford that sort of money so a deal could realistically be on the cards in the summer.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but Griezmann is close pals with Paul Pogba and I’m sure the midfielder will do his best to try and lure his compatriot to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Griezmann would obviously be a sensational signing if United could pull it off and he’d be a world class long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic with the 35-year-old coming towards the end of his illustrious career.
