Tottenham Hotspur will look to bring home a positive result when they take on European Champions Real Madrid at the Bernabeu tonight.

Spurs head in to the game in fine form with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon ensuring they remain third in the Premier League table – just three points behind second-placed Man Utd.

However, the focus is now on Champions League matters and the north Londoners have enjoyed the perfect start to their 2017/18 campaign having taken six points from their opening two games so far.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side secured a vital victory over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley before easing to a 3-0 win at APOEL last month but they know they face a tough task getting anything against Madrid tonight.

The reigning European champions have also taken maximum points from their opening two games in Group H so whoever comes out victorious this evening will put one foot in the knockout stages.

Team News

Tottenham have been handed a huge boost with Mousa Dembele back in contention after recovering from a foot injury so he should return to the midfield tonight.

Danny Rose is also back in the squad for the first time since overcoming a serious knee ligament injury but after ten months out, Pochettino says the left-back is only fit for the bench.

Ben Davies hasn’t travelled to Spain due to illness so Jan Vertonghen may continue at left-back while Serge Aurier should get a recall at right-back.

Victor Wanyama is unavailable for selection as the midfielder is still recovering from a knee injury while Erik Lamela is also short of fitness following a lengthy absence with a hip problem.

As for Madrid, they’ll be without former Tottenham attacker Gareth Bale as he’s still nursing a calf issue while Matteo Kovacic has been ruled out with a knee injury.

Likely Line-ups

Predicted Score

Real Madrid 3-1 Tottenham: Spurs haven’t scored a single goal in their previous four meetings with Madrid and the Spanish giants are unbeaten in their last 29 Champions League group games so this is a tall order for Tottenham. Pochettino’s side are in fine form while Madrid have stuttered so far this season but I still fancy the La Liga champs to win this evening.
