[VIDEO GOALS] Arsenal 2-1 Dortmund: Van Persie Double Seals Top Spot For Gunners

By on November 23, 2011

Arsenal produced a superb second half display to see off Borussia Dortmund and seal top spot in their Champions League group. Dortmund were the better side for much of a goalless first half, but Arsenal came out firing in the second and took the lead within 5 minutes of the restart. Alex Song superbly set-up the in-form Van Persie to head home for 1-0.

Arsenal were defending well and looking a threat going forward and Van Persie doubled their lead with minutes left, slotting home from close range following a corner. Dortmund got one back with the last kick of the game but Arsenal won 2-1, and coupled with Marseille’s 0-1 lose to Olympikos, the Gunners have won the group with a game to spare. Another accomplished performance along with a slight defensive laxity at the end by Song and Mertesacker but this means we can rest alot of the first team at Olympiacos and give our youth a run out like we did in 2008.
