Manchester United have been rocked by the news that key defender Nemanja Vidic is considering his future at the club. There was growing speculation towards the end of last season that Vidic was unsettled in Manchester and would seek a move, with AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid all interested.

Those rumours were quickly dismissed but now his agent Paolo Fabbri has once again cast doubt on whether Vidic will still be at Old Trafford next season, claiming his client has requested time to consider his future.

It won’t be until after the World Cup that he makes a decision on his future. We have requested some time from United to think about things, and Nemanja has requested I do not speak about particular clubs. Any eventual transfer will take place after the World Cup.’

United are believed to be so concerned about Vidic’s commitment that they have already found a replacement in Palermo defender Simon Kjaer, who has also attracted interest from Manchester City. Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini confirmed United’s approach for the £12m-rated centre back but insisted they will have to increase their offer if they are t get their man.

‘I have had requests for Kjaer from Manchester City and United, but there are still differences between what we want and what they are offering.’

Do United fans think Vidic will still be at Old Trafford next season?
