Junior-Hoilett

Tottenham have received a boost in their pursuit of Blackburn Rovers winger Junior Hoilett, after Steve Kean admitted they may be forced to cash-in on their star this January.

Hoilett is out-of-contract in the summer and is free to talk to interested clubs this month over a free transfer move in June. Blackburn are desperately trying to tie him down to a new contract but the two parties are struggling to agree terms.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old in recent weeks with a view to making a £7m bid this month, and Kean admitted that Blackburn would be forced to consider any offer that came in due to the players contract situation.

“If there’s a bid that comes in, then we’d have to consider that.

“We’ve continued to keep dialogue with Junior. What we have to do is continue to be open and honest with Junior and say ‘we want you to stay’.

“We’ve always said from day one that we’d like to get it tied up. I think he’s probably taken the opportunity to look elsewhere.

“I don’t really know where he is on it but we’re anxious to continue open conversation with him and if he decides to sign, great.”
