Manchester United boss David Moyes has been dealt a blow with Toni Kroos ruling out a dramatic £25m deadline day move from Bayern Munich, according to the Daily Star.

The 24-year-old midfielder is out of contract in 18 months and with talks over an extension believed to have stalled over his £150,000-a-week demands, the player has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena this month.

Yesterday it was reported that Moyes met with the German international’s agent, Sascha Breese, during Bayern’s game against Borussia Monchengladbach last Friday after the United boss made a scouting trip to Germany.

Speculation Kroos could be on the move intensified after he had a bust-up with boss Pep Guardiola after reacting badly to being substituted during their 2-1 win over Stuttgart this week. The incident led to Guardiola admitting the player may leave this month, saying on Thursday:

“He [Kroos] is an important player, but things can move fast in football.

The Daily Star claim Moyes was hopeful of pulling off a sensational deadline day move for Kroos and was prepared to test Bayern’s resolve with a £25million offer.

However, it appears the champions may have to wait as the newspaper suggests the player has now informed his agent he has no intention of leaving Munich mid-season and will assess his future after the World Cup in the summer.

United fans are in buoyant mood following the record signing of Juan Mata last week with the Spaniard already having a positive effect both on and off the pitch, and the additional of a player like Kroos would have had a similar effect.

With United having problems in the centre of the park this season, the German international would have been a superb addition and strengthened their midfield greatly. But any potential move now looks dead in the water, so Moyes will have to look elsewhere if he wants to add to his options during the closing stages of the window.
