Tottenham Hotspur will round off another turbulent season when they entertain Aston Villa at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, boss Tim Sherwood has been speaking at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and gave TottenhamHotspur.com the latest team news where it was confirmed he’ll be without seven first team squad players.

Defender Younes Kaboul will be unavailable through suspension after being sent off during last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham at Upton Park. With Jan Vertonghen still out with an ankle injury it means Sherwood is likely to play Vlad Chiriches alongside Michael Dawson at the back.

Midfielder Nacer Chadli remains out with groin and hip injuries and he’s joined on the sidelines by Belgian international Mousa Dembele, who is still struggling to overcome an ankle injury that’s plagued him in recent weeks.

Winger Andros Townsend was ruled out for up to 10 weeks with an ankle injury so he’ll miss the World Cup and it looks like he could be joined by Kyle Walker with the right-back struggling to overcome a pelvic injury that’s kept in out for over two months. Roy Hodgson is set to name his provisional squad on Monday and he may choose to pick Walker and give him the chance to prove his fitness before naming his final 23.

Summer signing Erik Lamela is of course still out with a back injury that’s seen him miss the majority of the second half of the season, meaning Sherwood will be without a total of seven first team squad players this weekend.

However, there was some good news with Etienne Capoue back in contention after recovering from an ankle injury that he picked up against Norwich back in February.

Spurs head into the final game needing just one point to ensure they finish above Manchester United in sixth spot and guarantee Europa League qualification next season.
