[Teams] Man Utd vs Swansea: Confirmed Line-Ups

By on August 16, 2014

Manchester United kick off the new season when they welcome Swansea City to Old Trafford this afternoon.

The former champions endured a disastrous campaign last year but there is fresh optimism around the club following the arrival of Louis van Gaal as manager.

The Dutchman is set to test out his new-look 3-5-2 formation today but he’ll have to make-do without a number of first team players. Robin van Persie isn’t fit to start after his World Cup exploits while Michael Carrick remains out with an ankle injury.

Jonny Evans also misses out along with Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia, so van Gaal has limited options at the back.

Here are the confirmed teams for the game.

Man Utd

De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Blackett, Lingard, Young, Fletcher, Herrera, Mata, Rooney, Hernandez.

Subs: Amos, James, Fellaini, Keane, Januzaj, Nani, Kagawa.

Swansea

Fabianski, Rangel, Williams, Amat, Taylor, Sigurdsson, Ki, Shelvey, Dyer, Routledge, Bony

Subs: Tremmel, Bartley, Richards, Teindelli,Ontero, Sheeham, Gomis
