Arsenal & Chelsea Handed Boost In Pursuit Of £16m Star As Agent Confirms PL Desire
Chelsea and Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Charles Aranguiz as the midfielders agent has confirmed he wants to move to the Premier League.
With the summer transfer window finally open for business, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Charles Aranguiz is keen on moving to the Premier League….
Chelsea and Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Charles Aranguiz as the midfielders agent has confirmed he wants to move to the Premier League, according to the Metro.
Aranguiz plays for Internacional in the Brasileirao and came onto the radar after putting in some impressive performances for Chile at last summers World Cup Finals where he helped them reach the last-16 knockout round.
The 26-year-old’s form in Brazil led to interest from Arsenal and Chelsea with the Metro reporting back in March that the London duo were keeping a close eye on his situation.
The midfielder continued his excellent form to help Chile win the Copa America this summer and the Metro claim that Arsenal and Chelsea have been joined by Marseille in showing an interest in bringing the player to Europe.
However, it appears the English pair have been handed a timely boost as Aranguiz’s agent, Cesar Behling, has confirmed the midfielders preference would be to move to the Premier League rather than France.
‘Aranguiz prefers the Premier League,’ Behling is quoted as saying by the Metro.
‘But Marseille and Ligue 1 also have a great reputation and can’t be ruled out.’
Aranguiz is a tough central midfielder who has all the attributes needed to be a success here in England so I think he’d be an excellent signing for either Arsenal or Chelsea, and it appears the player would be keen on the move if either club could agree a deal with Internacional.
The Metro claim the Chilean is valued at around £16m, which may sound a lot for a player who’s yet to prove himself outside of South America, but I think he’d prove to be a bargain at that price.
Arsenal could do with another holding midfielder to compete with Francis Coquelin next season while Chelsea could be on the look out for a replacement for Mikel Obi Mikel, with the Nigerian tipped to leave this summer, and Aranguiz would be a great signing for either club.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Arsene Wenger or Jose Mourinho decide to formalise their interest in the Chilean star but negotiations could get complicated as a third party owns 70% of the players economic rights.
