[Photos] Trio Absent But Man Utd Handed Boost As Key Duo Return To Training

There was mixed injury news for Manchester United today as Louis van Gaal and his coaching staff put the squad through their paces ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League clash with FC Midtjylland.
Let’s start with the good news and the club have been handed a much needed double boost with Marcos Rojo and Antonio Valencia both returning to take part in training today.
Rojo has been on the sidelines since dislocating his shoulder over two months ago while Valencia hasn’t played since United’s win over Manchester City way back in October due to a foot injury.
The South American duo are now closing in on making their comeback’s as they were back out on the training pitch with the rest of the first team squad today – although neither player is expected to be involved against Midtjylland tomorrow night.
However, there were a few notable absentees at training today as David De Gea, Chris Smalling and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson were all missing.
De Gea has missed the last two games with a knee injury and van Gaal was hoping the Spaniard could make his comeback at Old Trafford tomorrow night but it looks as though time is running out for the keeper to prove his fitness.
Smalling completed the full ninety minutes during the FA Cup win at Shrewsbury earlier this week so it’s not clear why he wasn’t present at training today while Borthwick-Jackson is nursing a knock that forced him off at half-time on Monday night.
van Gaal has mounting injury worries to contend with as Matteo Darmian, Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones, Ashley Youing, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sam Johnstone, Will Keane and Luke Shaw all remain on the sidelines.
